Dr. Robert Servatius, counsel for former Gestapo Col. Adolf Eichmann, who was sentenced to death in Israel as the executor of the Nazi program that resulted in the annihilation of 6, 000, 000 European Jews by the Nazi regime, announced here today he has requested that the court in Jerusalem grant him an extension of time for filing his appeal from the Jerusalem District Court’s sentence to the Israel Supreme Court,
The period for the appeal, to have been filed within 10 days after December 15, when the sentence had been handed down, was extended by the Jerusalem court to January 25, Now, Dr; Servatius said, he has requested further extension, to February 5. He said that illness, from yellow jaundice, has prevented him from completing his appeal;
(A dispatch from Jerusalem today reported that Dr. Servatius’ request for a further delay in filing his appeal has been received there, and the court will rule on the request tomorrow;)
