The governments of eight European countries whose nationals suffered in Nazi prisons and concentration camps are considering a joint approach to West Germany for adequate compensation to the victims, Halvard Lange, Norway’s Premier, announced in Parliament today.
Replying to questions, the Premier said that so far there had been no response from Bonn to repeated requests by Norway and other countries. Mr. Lange bluntly called this “unsolved” problem a “burden on the relationship between Norway and West Germany.” He noted that Bonn had originally promised a reply by May of this year, then postponed it until September, but has still not fulfilled that pledge.
