The sum of $8,000,000 was spent to transport and maintain 13,000 Jewish youngsters brought from Europe to Palestine since Hitler came to power, it was announced here today. The aim of the Jewish Agency at present is to bring to Palestine 20,000 Jewish children from liberated parts of Europe, George Landauer, Jewish Agency spokesman said.
A delegation of relatives of Jews who have been deported from Palestine to the Island of Mauritius visited the Chief Secretary of the Palestine Government and urged that the government at least permit the return to Palestine of deportees who have relatives here. The delegation also asked the government to permit the sending of medical supplies, food and clothing to the Mauritius internees.
