Election of eight additional members of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was announced today.
The new members who will now assume active participation in the direction and control of the 33-year-old Jewish news agency are: Benjamin G. Browdy, president of the Zionist Organization of America; Mordecai Danzis, editor of The Day; Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein, rabbi of the West Side Institutional Synagogue; Isadors Lipschutz, New York businessmen and philanthropist; Dr. S. Margoshes, publicist; David L. Mackler, editor of the Jewish Morning Journal; Leon Pines, New York businessman and communal worker, and Louis Segal, secretary-general of the Jewish National Workers Alliance. These elections now bring the JTA Board membership to a total of 20.
It was also announced that the Board of Directors had adopted a resolution confirming the communal, non-profit character of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and the board’s determination to continue operation of the agency as a public service of the Jewish community for the entire community.
The resolution confirmed decisions taken in April, 1950, on the reorganization of the JTA, pledging the agency to the policy of supplying objective reporting of the facts and authoritative, basic data on developments concerning the Jewish people throughout the world.
