Eighteen Jewish students from George Washington University and the University of Maryland were arrested yesterday in a demonstration in front of the Soviet Embassy to call attention to the plight of the 18 Georgian Jewish families who have not been permitted to leave the Soviet Union. The boys and girls handcuffed themselves to the embassy gates and had to be cut loose by the police. They are members of the newly formed “New Washington Committee for Human Rights Now.”
