Eighty per cent of all Jewish enterprises in unoccupied France have been “Aryanized,” it was announced here by Kavier Vallat, Commissioner for Jewish Affairs. Some 1,500 businesses have already been transferred, Vallat disclosed, and “this elimination of Jews from French economic life will continue methodically,” he stated.
Some hope was extended to Jewish war veterans who are the owners of businesses, with the announcement that exceptions will be made in some of their cases. Earlier in the week veterans were ordered to report to the police with their discharge papers and records of front line service, decorations received or wounds suffered.
