“The artistically decorated basket with its splendid specimens of the produce of our beloved land has filled me with joy and emotion.” Professor Albert Einstein stated in a letter to Kurt Blumenfeld, the President of the German Zionist Federation thanking him for the basket of Palestine fruits and honey sent him by the headquarters in Jerusalem of the Jewish National Fund on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday. “They are a symbol,” Professor Einstein writes, “showing that the ardent efforts and the arduous work are already bearing fruit. Let us hope that the people, traditions and things in Eretz Israel will be as delightful and genuine as the contents of this basket.

“I want to express my cordial thanks to you. Mr. Blumenfeld.” he goes on “for the warm words which you have addressed to me. You know that the little I have done for our sacred cause is immeasureably overestimated I have no ability to more people, or to lead them and I am glad if anything I do is of help.”

Plans have been completed for a three-story building in Memphis, Term for the Progressive Order of the West. The building is estimated to cost approximately $40,000.

A. D. Beamman is chairman of the organization’s building committee. The new building will be used as a social center.
