Politics is a “rude business’ to Professor Albert Einstein. He used the expression in a letter to Upton Sinclair, defeated Democratic candidate for Governor of California.

“My son, when he was about five years old, attempted to split wood with my razor,” the noted physicist wrote. “You can be sure it was less bad for the wood than for the razor. I remembered that story when I heard from you that you had got yourself into this rude business.”
