The unitary field theory, linking gravitation with electromagnetism, the latest contribution to science of Prof. Albert Einstein, was the subject of sermons in several New York Christian churches on Sunday.
While a recent editorial in a Jewish daily newspaper ascribed the theory to the monotheistic Jewish conception of God, the Rev. Henry Howard, pastor of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Dr. Charles Francis Potter of the Church of the Divine Paternity, Dr. Karl Reiland of St. George’s Episcopal Church and Louis J. Louis, founder and leader of the Christian Science Liberals, interpreting Einstein’s theory as science approaching mysticism, referred to the theory as supporting their religious conceptions.
