President Dwight D. Eisenhower and a number of Cabinet members acclaimed the Jewish community center and armed forces work of the National Jewish Welfare Board in messages sent to Charles Aaron, JWB president, on the eve of the biennial convention of the organization. The convention will be held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel April 5-8. Approximately 1,000 delegates and visitors from all parts of the country are expected to attend.
First message, President Eisenhower congratulated the delegates who will be attending the convention on “your continuing efforts to promote good citizenship, to foster the Jewish community center movement in our country and in many other countries of the free would, and to meet the needs of men and women in the Armed Forces, both here and abroad.”
Other messages were received from Secretary of the Air Force Donald A. Quarles, Secretary of the Navy Charles S. Thomas and Deputy Defense Secretary Reuben B. Robertson, Jr., Secretary of the Army Wilber M. Brucker, and Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare Marion B. Folsom.
