The universal values contributed by Judaism to the national culture of the United States were hailed by President Eisenhower in a message to the American Council for Judaism on the occasion of its annual conference which opens at the Hotel Plaza here tomorrow. Some 400 Council members from every part of the country are expected to attend four days of sessions scheduled for this week-end.
”To the members and friends of the American Council for Judaism assembled in annual conference I send greetings, ”President Eisenhower wrote.” As a religion of universal values Judaism contributes to the strength of our national culture and to the spiritual resources of the world. In its ethical content, it adds to the basic requirements of the law to the moral foundation of western society. Best wishes as you continue to bring the power of your faith to bear upon the problems of our day.”
Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, in his message expressed appreciation of ”the interest of all Americans in the pressing problems our country faces in its efforts to establish peace with justice.” He singled out for particular commendation the Council’s efforts ”in the fields of religion and philanthropy.”
