President Eisenhower today praised the record of the American Jewish Committee in fighting to protect the civil and religious rights of Jews, in a message to the 47th annual meeting of the Committee, which opens here Friday. The three-day parley will be attended by some 500 Jewish leaders from all parts of the United States.
Mr. Eisenhower’s message, which also paid tribute to AJC president Jacob Blaustein, declared:
“All Americans can be grateful for the services performed by the American Jewish Committee during almost half a century. In striving to protect the civil and religious rights of Jews, you have made these rights more secure for all Americans. As those civil and religious liberties are made more secure, the entire nation gains strength, and, to the extent that these rights are observed in our country, the forces of freedom throughout the world take new courage.”
