Eleven Egyptians Sentenced in Cairo for Attacking Jewish School

The Supreme Military Tribunal in Cairo has sentenced nine Egyptians to five years imprisonment for taking part in an attack on the Jewish communal school at Abbassia during the “Black Saturday” rioting in January, it was reported here today. Two other Egyptians were sentenced to six-month terms.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister has denied a report that the Soviet Union has delivered a new warning to Egypt against participation in the proposed Middle East defense command, it was reported here from Cairo. The Cairo dispatch, quoting the newspaper Al Misri, said that the report was “unfounded.” The report stated that the Russians believed the United States had made progress in persuading the Arab States to join a regional defense organization.
