Eli Marcus, secretary general of the Egyptian-Jewish Association, sent a telegram to President Carter urging him “to initiate a timetable for Egyptian compensation to settle the legitimate claims of 100,000 Egyptian Jews whose properties and assets were confiscated by Egypt in 1948, 1956 and 1967.”
