Emanuel Lasker, world famous Jewish chess player who held the world championship before it was won by Capablanca, celebrated his birthday on Monday.
German newspapers devoted editorials to the occasion, highly praising the former champion. They point out that Mr. Lasker is also a port and scholar.
Mr. Lasker takes an active interest in Jewish affairs and is a member of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith.
