A total of $1,988,385 in contributions to the Palestine Emergency Fund was announced yesterday by David A. Brown, chairman. Additional contributions of $10,000 brought the fund to its present figure.
An additional remittance of $10,000 from the “Jewish Morning Journal,” on account of contributions by its readers was the largest item in yesterday’s receipts by the Palestine Emergency Fund. With this remittance, the receipts to the fund from the “Jewish Morning Journal,” Mr. Brown said, now total $40,000.
The new contributions announced by Mr. Brown, including 2,500 francs forwarded by Rev. Dr. H. Pereira Mendes, of New York, who is sojourning in Biarritz, on account of contributions given him for the fund by American tourists, amounted to $10,892.70
