A two-day emergency conference of Jewish leaders to consider the effects of the liquidation of UNRRA on the program for the relief, rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced Jews in Europe, and to take definite action to deal with the problems confronting the United Jewish Appeal as a result of the movement of large numbers of refugees in Europe who are seeking a home in Palestine the United States and other lands, will open in Wernersville, Pa., on Saturday, June 7, it was announced today by Henry Morgenthau Jr., general chairman of the U.J.A.
The conference will be addressed by Gen. Joseph T. McNarney, former U.S. commander in Germany, who will discuss the situation of the displaced Jews; Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, European director of the J.D.C, who is flying to the U.S. for the express purpose of reporting to the conference; and Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, who will report on Palestine developments.
