Edgar M. Berliner, member of the recently-appointed Jewish school commission, has resigned from the presidency of the Victor Talking Machine Company of Canada, Ltd., in order to devote himself to his private interests and possibly to engage in experimental work, thus following the footsteps of his father, the late Emile Berliner, well-known inventor of the microphone and of the disc record and gramophone.
Mr. Berliner has been active in the life of the Dominion for upwards of twenty-five years. He is a member of the Quebec executive of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association, and a member of the Board of Trade.
Mr. Berliner was one of the founders of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Montreal and one of the earliest adherents to the principle of organized and federated philanthropy, as being salutary to the beneficiaries.
