Prison sentences were meted out today to twenty nine members of the anti-Semitic National Democratic Party for participation in the Truskolas riots last January. The sentences, however, were immediately suspended by the court.
Several scores of Jews were injured in attacks in the town of Truskolas near Czenstochwa when rumors were circulated that Jews had plundered a local Catholic church. Rioters resisted attempts to restore order, stoning the police.
Today’s suspended jail-terms affect the leader of the riots who was given eight months and twenty eight others given six months. Four other National Democrats were acquitted.
