Endorsements of the Hadassah-University Hospital preject by Lillian D. Wald, founder of the Henry Street Settlement, and Jane Addams, founder of Hull House in Chicago, in letters was made public yesterday by the national headquarters of Hadassah.
Miss Wald wrote: “A university as celebrated as yours should be completed and could only be completed by recognition of the importance of scientific study and the establishment of adequate laboratories for teaching and practice of health measures”.
Miss Addams wrote: “The medical center in Jerusalem to be connected with the Hebrew University, seems but a natural culmination of their long and successful effort. The moment is most opportune in that the undertaking can avail itself of the services of the most distinguished German scientists and thereby provide for the Near East the scientific research that has been established elsewhere in the Orient”.
