Energetic means were taken to relieve the lack of pasture from which some Jewish colonies in Crimea suffered, reports the Yiddish Communist daily, “Emess” today.

The condition was created as a result of the long winter and the poor spring crop of last year. In some districts the forage resources were exhausted to the extent that it was impossible even to buy old straw.

Dr. Schmarya Levin will open the $25,000 campaign for the United Palestine Appeal in Western Massachusetts on March 25th at a meeting at the Hotel Springfield. Ten thcus and dollars has been ralsed in advance of the official launching of the campaign Nathan E. Goldstain is chairman of the Western state campaign and Harry M. Ehrlich of Spring-field. chairman of the Springfield drive.

Ex-Service men who seryed in the military or naval forces of the United States during the World War and who are not citizens were urged by Col. Morris J. Mendelsohn, commander-in-chief of the Jewish Veterans of the Wars of the Reputlic, to avail themselves of the privilege granted them under the provisions of an Act passed by Congress enabling them to become citizens without going through the usual formalities required of nonservice applicants.

The benefits of this Act will be withdrawn after May 25, 1928.
