Irving M. Engel, chairman of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee, was named chairman of the campaign for $2,500,000 which the Joint Defense Appeal will seek to raise this year in New York, it was announced today.
The Joint Defense Appeal is the fund-raising agency for the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith and the American Jewish Committee. The two organizations seek $5,000,000 nationally through the J.D.A. to carry on their work of combatting bigotry in 1952. Half of this sum is New York City’s goal.
