Starting today, all butcher shops in England, except those operated by Jews selling kosher meat, are to be closed on Sundays under a new Sunday closing act.

To obtain exemption from the law, Jewish butchers must produce a statement from recognized Jewish religious authorities testifying that they sell kosher meat and are closed on Saturdays.
