A “casting machine” which would eliminate the suffering of animals slaughtered by the Jewish method of schechita was demonstrated before the British Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The invention was endorsed by the Society and the press comments favorably upon it.

Harris Weinberg of Leeds is the inventor of the machine. Following a demonstration, Taylor Paddison, humane slaughtering advisor to the Society, expressed his thanks to Weinberg. He is satisfied, he said, that by the use of this machine animals are saved from suffering.

Frederick Hebday, the King’s veterinary surgeon, in speaking before the society expressed the hope that Jewish abattoirs will install this machine.

The “Jewish World” states that the use of this machine be made compulsory in the kosher slaughtering houses.
