Work is well under way on the stage to be used as a center for the Epic of a Nation spectacle in Soldier Field Sunday, which will climax Jewish, Community Day at A Century of Progress, David E. Hirsch, production manager, announced.
The stage, the main level of which will contain 15,000 square feet and will require three carloads of lumber to construct, was designed by D. B. Gertler, stage construction director of the spectacle.
At varying levels will be erected adjoining subordinate stages which will hold a symphonic orchestra, massed choruses of 500 voices and large dancing groups. The entire platform area will be the the largest ever built.
