Equality of rights for Jews in Austria was demanded today at an impressive mass meeting of Jewish war veterans in which 4,000 participated.
“We do not ask equal rights; we do not beg for equality; we demand it,” Capt. Edler von Friedmann, the president of the League of Jewish War Veterans in Austria, declared in his address at the meeting.
Chancellor Schuschnigg was represented at the gathering through his personal aide-decamp. The meeting was also attended by many non-Jewish notables and by a delegation of the Fatherland Front.
Capt. von Friedmann in his address emphasized that “the loyalty of the Austrian Jews to Austria has been proven beyond a doubt.”
