The resignation of Howard C. Petersen, Assist-Secretary of War for Occupied Areas, was accepted today by President Truman, effective July 31. Petersen, who has been Assistant Secretary for the last year and a (##)f and served in the War Department over six and a helf years, is leaving for finan(##)l reasons.
