Israel’s Finance Minister Levi Eshkon continued today his whirlwind round of visits with officials of member countries of the European Common Market in his effort to mobilize support for a link between Israel and the European Economic Community.
Returning from a quick visit to Paris, the Finance Minister met today with Eugene Schaus, Foreign Minister of Luxemburg, and Professor Walter Hallstein, president of the EEC executive committee.
A communique issued after the one-hour conversation with Prof. Hallstein said merely that “problems of common interest were discussed.” The EEC Council of Ministers, which Israel officials hope will take up Israel’s request, continued its meetings today and scheduled a session for tonight. The Finance Minister will leave for Israel by E1 A1 plane tomorrow.
