Hope that immigration to Israel would rise again was expressed here last night by Finance Minister Levi Eshkol, addressing a meeting of the Mapai Party.
“There are good reasons to believe that immigration will continue to increase in numbers from various countries,” he told the meeting. A special experts committee, he said, is now preparing an outline for an economic program to absorb the third million. The absorption of the third million of Jews in Israel, he added, would be achieved within seven years, instead of ten years as previously predicted.
