Prime Minister Levi Eshkol has sent a special message to President Charles de Gaulle affirming Israel’s constant readiness to sit down with its Arab neighbors to discuss issues between them such as the question of the Palestine refugees and freedom of transit in the Gulf of Akaba. The Israeli leader stressed in his letter, delivered to Gen. de Gaulle last night by Ambassador Walter Eytan, Israel’s intense desire to establish peaceful relations with the Arab countries but only on condition that Israel’s territorial integrity and its international rights, such as transit of the waterways, are assured.
