The appointment of Eugene Meyer, chairman of the War Finance Corporation, as head of the Farm Loan Board and acceptance of the resignation of Robert A. Cooper and Edward E. Jones as members of the board, has been decided upon by the Administration.
Reorganization of the board is expected to become effective upon the return here of Albert Williams, who is now chairman, and of Mr. Meyer, both of whom have been studying conditions in the West.
Mr. Meyer, formerly a Los Angeles banker, entered the government service in 1917. He has served on a number of special commissions, one of the latest being that appointed to investigate the Southern cotton crop situation and to aid in providing means to market last year’s large cotton output.
The Daniel Guggenheim Fund for the Promotion of Aeronautics has authorized a grant of $5,000 to help finance the second University of Michigan Greenland Expedition. It was conditional upon the raising of an additional $15,000, which has been subscribed, according to Professor W. H. Hobbs of the Geological Department of the university.
