The coming winter will be the most critical faced by the 1,500,000 surving Jews of Europe since the liberation, Edward M.M. Warbing, New York chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, last night told a meeting of the Western States Region of the J.D.C. More than 400 leaders from Jewish communities in California, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho and Nevada attended the session.

“European Jewry’s progress toward revial may be dissipated unless private philanthropy fills the gap left open because no governmental plan has yet been proposed for European relief appreciably benefitting Jewish surviors,” Warburg stated. ## Firestein of Los Angeles was reelected chairman of the Western States Region.
