A recommendation urging the European Economic Community to extend associate membership to Israel in the Euromart was adopted here today by the European Parliament, the 142-member group which has advisory status before the six-nation EEC. The recommendation has been forwarded to EEC, advising also that the current Euromart-Israel agreement, signed at Brussels last June, be revised.
A plenary session of the European Parliament adopted its resolution after hearing a report on the issue from G. L. Moro, a member of the Italian Christian Democratic Party, who stated categorically that “only if Israel becomes associated with the European Economic Community will it be possible to overcome the problems that arise.” He advocated that all possible steps be taken by the EEC to promote this solution gradually.
