A donation of $1,500,000 for the erection of a “Center for the Advancement of Human Culture” in Jerusalem by Bernard van Leer was announced here today in connection with the arrival here of Daniel Auster, former Mayor of Jerusalem, who is head of the organizing group for the center.
Mr. Auster is touring European capitals to consult with academic leaders on the structure and operation of their institutions. The center which will rise in Jerusalem is projected as a clearing house for intellectuals from all parts of the world. It will include an academy of sciences, and academy of moral science and politics and an academy of fine arts.
