The Nazi campaign to win the Saar Basin plebiscite next year extends even to America’s Midwest. This is evidenced by the following boxed notice, which appeared in The Freie Press, Cincinnait German language newspaper, under the heading, “Attention, Saarians!”:
“In January of next year the plebiscite in the Saar Basin will take place. All Saarians now residing in other lands, insofar as they were residents of the Saar Basin in the post-war period, are eligible to cast their votes. All Saarians who come within this classification are asked immediately to get in contact with Herr Heinrich Klohe in the business office of The Freie Presse.”
Klohe is head of the Cincinnati branch of the Friends of New Germany.
