An attack on the Israel Government for “defying” the United Nations on the question of Jerusalem was made here this week-end in a letter to the New York Times by Michael Francis Doyle, an honorary vice-president of the American Association of the United Nations and a former member of the Court of International Arbitration at The Hague.
Mr. Doyle also hit out at “certain Jewish groups, apparently with large means at their disposal,” for “aiding the shameful attitude of the present Tel Aviv Government. “The penalty of “flouting the United Nations at this time may be a heavy one for the present Government of Israel.” Mr. Doyle’s letter continued. “The friendship of our government and of the United Nations and of the Christians and Mohammedans all over the world, as well as honorable Jews wishing to cooperate with the United Nations, should not be tested by such means.”
