A Munich court has sentenced four former Nazi police officers to jail for complicity in the murder of about 2000 Jews in southern Russia in the fall of 1941. They are Erich Bock, 61, Otto-Ernst Prast, 59, and Wilhelm Spiekermann, 60, who each got four and a half years, and Hans Discar, 60, who was sentenced to two years imprisonment. The public prosecutor had asked for ten years.
Meanwhile, two former SS officers went on trial in West Berlin today charged with the murder and complicity in the murder of more than 1000 Jews and gypsies in Poland from 1941 to 1943. They are Johann Baecker, 61, and Hans Quambusch, 67. They are also on trial as so-called “excess criminals.” Both are alleged to have shot babies, young girls, women and men.
