Rabbi Irving Miller, chairman of the American Zionist Council, sharply criticized the State Department policy of excluding Israel from Middle East alliances sponsored by the United States, in an address here last night to a dinner marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Long Island Region of the Zionist Organization of America.
Rabbi Miller told the 500 guests that such pacts, concluded without Israel, were “paper alliances with regimes whose most basic characteristic is their untrustworthiness.” He called for the U.S. to conclude a bi-lateral treaty with Israel, questioning the need for the U.S. to “slavishly” follow ### lead of the Arab states in reference to Israel.
