The belief that establishment of Israel made the Keren Hayesod and other Zionist funds unnecessary is entirely erroneous, Israel Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan declared here today, addressing a celebration of the fund’s 30th anniversary.
Minister Kaplan said that a partnership was needed among the state of Israel, the national Zionist funds and private capital. Berl Locker, Jewish Agency chairman, told the gathering that wider voluntary taxation was needed, while Dr. Abraham Granot, world president of the Jewish National Fund, urged the closest cooperation between the Jewish National Fund and the Keren Hayesod.
