The exodus of Jews from Germany has assumed such proportions that in many western German cities and towns not a single eastern European Jew can be found, it was reliably reported from Essen yesterday.
The Jewish Agency Office in Berlin has announced that it cannot accept new applications for immigration to the Jewish homeland because it is already flooded with thousands of requests with which it is unable to deal, in view of the limited number of certificates received from the authorities in Jerusalem. New applications cannot be considered until the autumn, it was stated.
In spite of the fact that most exits are blocked for Jews, immigration has increased five-fold since three months ago, according to the official government immigration department. Yesterday the Hitlerites announced that hereafter stricter control will be enforced along the frontiers of Germany to prevent Jews from leaving.
