A considerable decrease in the expenditures of the British government in the administration of Palestine, Transjordania and Iraq will be enforced during the fiscal year 1927-1928.
The civil estimates for the middle eastern service published today are based on a budget of £3,395,000, which constitutes a reduction of £1,049,000 from the total last year.
The estimates provide for the defence of Iraq and Palestine the amount of £2,519,000, which is a decrease of £500 from that of last year; the Palestine-Transjordania frontier force has an item of £45,000 which is £6,300 less than last year. The allotment for the administration of Transjordania has been decreased £30,000, the budget now being £62,000.
