Extend Greetings to Czech Ambassador in Paris on Independence Anniversary

A delegation bearing felicitations and a message of good will to the Republic of Czechoslavakia on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the country’s independence, called on the Czechoslovak Ambassador today. The delegation composed of Dr.Leo Motzkin, Dr. Segal and Attorney Goldstein in behalf of the Committee of Jewish Delegations in Paris, expressed its ap preciation of the favorable attitude manifested by the Czechoslovak government toward the Jewish population.

A memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister was handed the Ambassador requesting the government to facilitate the speedy naturalization of those Jewish residents in Czechoslovakia who were formerly subjects of the Anstro-Hungarian Empire.

The Ambassador thanked the delegation for its message of good will and promised to convey its request to the Prague government.

EXPRESSES GRATIFICATION ON LEHMAN’S ELECTION

The New York “Evening World.”comments on the election of Colonel Herbert H. Lehman as Lieutenant-Governor of New York State.

“Gratifying is the election of Colonel Herbert H. Lehman as Lieutenant-Governor,”the paper states. Essentially a business man and philanthropist, he, too, accepted the nomination because of his interest in the success of the Governor. It was inevitable that he should appeal to business men, and the results show that he possessed elements of popularity that made a far wider appeal. He, too, made an energetic campaign, and developed qualities on the platform that made his speceches effective.

“It is not a rash statement that New York has never had two cleaner, finer figures in the two offices to which they have been called than Mr.Roosevelt and Colonel Lehman.”

PALESTINE BALLET DANCER OPENS N.Y. STUDIO

Rina Nikova, prima ballerina and ballet master of the Palestine Opera Company, who recently arrived in America, has opened a studio in New York where she plans to continue her work of instruction in oriental and Biblical ballet.

Madame Nikova, who gained wide recognition in Palestine for her dancing and instruction, will have special classes for children, teachers and professional and non-professional students. Her studio is located at 127 Riverside Drive.

The installation of Rabbi Charles Bender, formerly of Rochester. N.Y. as rabbi of the Shearith Israel Synagogue of Montreal, the oldest synagogue in Canada, was held Friday. Rabbi David de Sola Pool, of the Shearith Israel Synagogue in New York, delivered the induction address. Dr Herman Abramowitz, of the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue welcomed Rabbi Bender on behalf of the Jewish community of Montreal. Rabbi dela Penha conducted the evening services.
