Members of Parliament Hillel Kook-Bergson and Eri Jabotinsky today filed an application with the Israeli Supreme Court asking that it issue an order demanding that President Weizmann rule the present Cabinet “unlawful” because it does not enjoy the confidence of Parliament.
The applicante argued that the President had no right to appoint the members of the present Cabinet to serve as a caretaker government until the national elections. The Court has not yet decided whether to consider the applications. Both Kook and Jabotinsky were elected to the Knesset as members of the Herut Party, but recently broke with it and asked Parliament to consider them a separate faction.
