With the news of the kidnapping of his 19-year-old son, Jerome Factor, it became known for the first time that Jack Factor had given away 3,000 baskets for Passover to needy Jewish families of the West Side. Each basket contained 15 pounds of matzos and two chickens, in addition to many other foods in generous amounts. The donations had been given anonymously and but few of his intimate friends knew of this philanthropy. Mr. Factor has given $2,500 towards the drive now being carried on by the Jewish Charities of Chicago to raise an additional $405,000.
