Faiga Teitelbaum, a guiding force in the Satmar group of Chasidim, died June 2 at 89. Teitelbaum became a powerful member of the community behind the scenes when her husband, Joel, the Satmars’ grand rebbe and spiritual leader, suffered a stroke 36 years ago.
