Col. Alfred Dreyfus, central figure in the “Affaire” which forty years ago shook the French republic to its foundations, is recovering slowly from an operation performed two months ago, members of his family said today, denying reports that the aged man was near death. Col. Dreyfus recently celebrated his seventy-fifth birthday.
