Dr. Lewis E. Visser, president of the Supreme Court of the Judicature at The Hague, has been assassinated under orders of the Gestapo, the London Jewish Chronicle reported today. Dir. Visser was also president of the Palestine Foundation Fund in the Netherlands.
Dr. Visser was born in 1871 in Amersfoort, studied law and became an official of the Foreign Ministry. He joined Amsterdam University as a lecturer and was later appointed a judge in Amsterdam, and then in Rotterdam. In 1915 he was named to the Supreme Court and in 1939 was elevated to the presidency. He was the author of many works on Dutch commercial law.
