The honorary executive of the Yiddish Scientific Institute, which includes in its membership Eduard Bernstein, Dr. Albert Einstein, Simon Dubnov, Sigmund Freud, Dr. Moses Gaster, Professor Edward Sapir, Dr. Chaim Zhitlovsky and David Jacob Simonson, have issued an appeal to the various Jewish communities to support the institute on the occasion of its fifth anniversary.
The appeal pointed out that the Institute was a young and growing organization with branches in seventeen countries. It already has a number of major achievements to its credit in history, philology, economics, ethnography and bibliography. Many non-Jewish scientists are sympathetic to the Institute’s work of saving the monuments of the Jewish past and the gems of Jewish folklore.
