Serious anti-Jewish disorders have been organized in Lithuania by the followers of Augustine Waldemaras, Lithuanian Fascist leader, reliable reports reaching here today said.
The Jews assertedly were accused of responsibility for Lithuania’s loss of independence and the developments leading to the country’s absorption by the Soviet Union.
Authorities were reported carrying out mass arrests of prominent business and professional men considered unsympathetic to the new situation. A large number of Jews were reported among those arrested. The reports said Juozas Urbsys, former Lithuanian Foreign minister, and his wife were among those seized by the police.
