Unidentified individuals have made an attempt to set fire to the synagogue in Turin, Italy, according to reports received here today.
The vandals are reported to have broken a window in the basement of the synagogue and to have ignited gasoline which they had poured through the window. A watchman smothered the blaze before it spread to other parts of the building. This is the second case of attempted arson aimed at synagogues in Italy this year. The first case took place in Ferrara.
